Chamomile Calms the Mind

Chamomile is an herb in the daisy family, known as the Asteraceae family. One of the most common species used is the German chamomile Marticaria Recutita. It is well-known for its anti-inflammatory and calming properties. These properties are in the flower part of the plant, containing flavonoids and other therapeutic usages.

Flavonoids are found in most plants. They promote health with their many properties of being such as: antioxidant, anticancerous, cardiotonic, antithrombotic and anti-inflammatory They are also protect the liver, stomach and lower cholesterol.

One of the flavonoids in Chamomile is called apigenin which connects with brain receptors. Studies show that it can calm the mind, relax the body and give deep sleep.  What a gift this flavonoid  is to our bodies.
